Anyone can be an entrepreneur! Yes, that includes you! Entrepreneurship is not limited to starting a business. It can be creating something of your own. On our Tuesday blog post, we will talk about how you can be an entrepreneur within a business you work for. Today, we are focusing on how to get into an entrepreneurial mindset and become an entrepreneur in your day-to-day life.
How put yourself in an entrepreneurial mindset:
Step 1: See everything as an opportunity
In a class I took called Innovation and Entrepreneurship, we were required to do three assignments called opportunity logs. With the assignment, we had to talk about a problem we or someone we know encountered since our last opportunity. We also had to discuss if there was a need for this solution in the market and what added value it would bring to peoples’ lives. Ultimately, doing this makes me realize the opportunities in my daily life.
Step 2: Network
As a student, I understand that this is the most annoying suggestion. But, it really is so important! You never know what a connection can help with or if they might end up investing in you or your company.
Step 3: Pitch
If you do decide to create a company, you will be pitching your company to a lot of investors. However, the investors are investing in you more than your company. They want to know that you will do whatever it takes to build the company from the ground up. Starting a company tests character, motivation, and passion, and investors are trying to determine if these characteristics will give when things get rough.
Step 4: You can do Anything you Want to Do
The world is yours and you can create whatever you want. GrasshoppHer resources offer mentorship to connect you with people to help get you where you want to go. In addition, we offer monthly webinars on skill-building topics. Our next webinar is on December 2nd and we are focusing on the last month’s theme of “using your voice.” Our panel will include Rebecca Chen, VP of Marketing at Speakable/Action Button, Mary Keane-Dawson, CEO of Takumi Marketing and Advertising, and Montana Morgan, Strategy & Operations Manager at ClimateVoice. These three amazing women will speak to how you can harness the power of your voices through business communication and negotiation.
